REUSE

AND

RECYCLE

EVERYTHING

POSSIBLE

Boxes and plastics, for example, can be used to pack some objects. Clothes that you no longer wear can be donated. Some products can become decorative items. The important thing is to always keep in mind that the more we reduce our waste production, the more we preserve the environment.

EARTH DAY

SORT

OUT

THE

GARBAGE

Separating waste is one of the simplest and most efficient ways to help preserve the environment. The easiest way to do this is to separate organic waste (food scraps) from waste that can be recycled. Recycled garbage, in addition to helping to preserve the environment, also helps to create jobs for people working on transforming these discards into raw materials for the manufacture of new products. Organic waste can also be reused in a process called composting, which transforms this organic waste, from its natural decomposition, into manure or fertilizers.

EARTH DAY

REDUCE

YOUR

ELECTRICITY

CONSUMPTION

Decreasing the expenditure of electricity also contributes to the preservation of the environment, in addition to helping to save on monthly bills. Avoid excessive consumption, always remembering to leave appliances off when not in use and turn off the lights that are lighting unnecessary environments.

EARTH DAY

USE

LESS

PLASTIC

ITEMS

The excessive use of plastic is one of the major problems that need to be controlled to reduce impacts on the environment, as this material has a very slow decomposition process. The plastic left in nature takes between 200 and 400 years to decompose, depending on the type of material used in its composition. To reduce the use of plastic, it is possible to avoid buying products that are sold in packaging and bags of this material and not to use straws, cutlery and plates made of plastic. It is also possible to adopt the habit of using bags made of fabric or other long-term recyclable materials, which can be reused over and over again.

EARTH DAY

REDUCE

YOUR

WATER

CONSUMPTION

Water is a natural resource that can run out if it is not saved, especially drinking water, which corresponds to only 3% of all water on Earth. To reduce water consumption, measures can be taken, such as taking shorter showers and not leaving the tap running when brushing your teeth and washing the dishes. It is also possible to collect and reuse rainwater and water used in washing machines.

EARTH DAY

DO NOT

THROW

GARBAGE

ON THE

STREET

Throwing garbage on the street is a practice that causes a lot of damage to the environment. The garbage left on the streets can also be taken to rivers, streams, oceans and springs, causing the death of fish and other animals, in addition to water pollution. In addition, it can cause the proliferation of mice and other animals that can transmit diseases to humans, such as leptospirosis and hantavirus. To avoid this problem, try to deposit the garbage in the places that carry out the disposal in the correct place to avoid further damage to the environment.

EARTH DAY

BUY

LESS

FIX

MORE

Another way to help preserve the environment is to avoid making unnecessary purchases, especially of electronic products. Items that are no longer useful for use or that are considered outdated, if discarded, further increase the waste produced. In addition to plastic, chemical and toxic substances present in these products can harm the environment. To avoid dumping more garbage into the environment, an important tip is: before buying a product, check if there is a possibility to repair the item you already have.

EARTH DAY

DONATE

CLOTHES

YOU

NO LONGER

WEAR

If you have a closet full of clothes that you either don’t use much or are waiting to use when you lose weight, really think about whether it’s worth keeping it, or whether it’s better to donate it to those who really need it. There are many associations that receive clothing and other donations. Do a good deed, make room in your closet and make other people happy.

EARTH DAY

REUSE

THE USE

OF YOUR

CAR

Boxes and plastics, for example, can be used to pack some objects. Clothes that you no longer wear can be donated. Some products can become decorative items. The important thing is to always keep in mind that the more we reduce our waste production, the more we preserve the environment.
